We love Kundalini Yoga

Yogi Bhajan Kundalini Yoga BathIt is the nearest thing to Naam Yoga in the UK – both have their roots in the teachings of Yogi Bhajan – so we attend many classes.

“Kundalini is the energy that lies dormant at the base of the spine until it is activated, as by the practice of Yoga, and channeled upward through the chakras in the process of spiritual perfection.

“Kundalini is the energy that connects us to our spirit.  It has nothing to do with concepts, religion, or standing on one’s head.  It’s the energy behind all energy: it’s called prana by the yogis, chi by the Chinese, ki by the Japanese, and biological energy by the scientist.  All we need do is to enable more of this energy to flow into our lives, and we can have a life that is truly healthy, happy, and whole.  Kundalini Yoga is the total science of that process.  Yoga simply means union and Kundalini Yoga is union with our Kundalini.”

We are delighted to welcome a new local Kundalini teacher, Rajdev Singh, to the Love Lounge.  Rajdev is offering a regular Wednesday evening class from 6.15 – 7.45pm.

Here is what Rajdev shares about Kundalini Yoga:

“The techniques of Kundalini Yoga have been kept secret and practiced in India and Tibet for centuries. It was brought to the West by Yogi Bhajan in 1969 so that its sacred technology could be available to everyone in the dawn of the new age which the world is entering.

A class involves practicing kriyas which are actions using breathing techniques(pranayama), postures (asana), body locks (bhandas), hand positions (mudras),chants (mantras) and meditations.

Using these yogic techniques the dormant kundalini (coiled) creative energy at the base of the spine is raised up the central spinal channel (sushmuna) and united with universal (pranic) energy, balancing the chakras and empowering an individual in their infinite higher consciousness.

It gives hands on experience of higher consciousness so that we can be in control of ourselves rather than being controlled by our base thoughts and feelings. It is not a religion, it is a sacred science which working on many levels (physical, mental, energetic and spiritual), can be experienced by people of all ages and abilities.

It is also fun and challenging, and can be quite addictive!”
