Shakti Dance with Anjali Kaur
Saturday 01 October 2011
11.am – 1.30pm
Positive Living Bath @ Cycles Maximus, rear or 6-10 Kensington Place, Bath BA1 6AW (see below for map)
Shakti Dance is the conscious practise of dance, infused with the wisdom of yoga to develop awareness and understanding of body, mind and emotions.
With a unique and harmonious blend of flowing asanas and various styles of dance, Shakti Dance works energetically to develop the art of intuitive and free movement through a state of meditative union. Shakti Dance has its roots in the science and tradition of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. It implements insights drawn from yogic philosophy to awaken and embody universal principles of harmonious movement.
Anjali brings a sense of joy and openness to her classes and focuses on allowing people to come into an awareness of the deep silence that is always present within. As we access this silence through yoga and dance we connect with the true nature of our existence, enabling us to go beyond the stresses placed on us by modern day living.
Wear clothing you can move freely in. Please bring a yoga mat and a bottle of water.
£15 / £10 concessions
To book your place, please call Anjali 07961 105780 or email anjali@shaktidance.co.uk

Our next Raw Food Potluck in Bath

Sunday 22 May 2011
7 – 9.30pm
new summer sunshine time!
new venue! see below
Easter Sunday saw a group of us gather in the park at Walcot Gate for the Positive Living Bath April Raw Food Potluck. What a treat for those who came!
As well as a selection of delicious raw food dishes and
cacao hemp smoothie, we were entertained with overtone singing, tibetan singing bowl, and an impromptu kora performance by a new guest who happened to be passing the park with his kora, and chose a raw food dinner over a packet of biscuits. It was truly a wonderful evening. We’re looking forward to many more al fresco potlucks as the summer continues to warm up and light up over the coming months.
The date for our next shared raw meal is Sunday 22 May. As the days are getting longer, we’ve now switched to summer potluck time, that being 7 – 9.30pm.
As usual, all welcome. Not as usual, please bring a few more things with you:
- a vegan raw food dish with serving spoon
- your own plate & cutlery
- something to sit on: a chair or rug
- something to keep warm in case it’s chilly
New Venue
We’re hoping our early summer will continue so that we can have another outdoor picnic potluck. The venue will be Kensington Meadows, a huge and lesser known green area between London Road and the river, with a play area. We’ll be at the town end of the Meadows.
If the weather is not up to being outside then we’ll be at Ian’s nearby Cycles Maximus workshop which overlooks the Meadows. Either way, please bring something to sit on and something to keep the chill off.
The address is:
Cycles Maximus

So… if it’s SUNNY we’ll be at Walcot Gate, the park by Walcot Chapel, across the road and up a bit from The Bell. In which case, bring a picnic blanket and your own plate and cutlery, as well as your delicious raw food dish.
If it’s WET we’ll be at The Love Lounge @ The Bell Inn, 103 Walcot Street, Bath BA1 5BW.

New Venue for Positive Living Bath?
Positive Living Bath needs a new home, can you help?
2 weeks ago we reached a milestone: we outgrew The Love Lounge. It’s just over a year since Positive Living Bath was born, becoming a hub for positive and alternative events in and around Bath. We have well over 400 members and a full list of events going out as often as we can compile the information in emails to you.
On Sunday 27 March we had 2 events at The Love Lounge. With 20 guests for the film screening of ‘Simply Raw‘ and over 40 for the raw food potluck, the room was bursting at the seams! It was a standing buffet for many and the supply of played and cutlery was exhausted so some of us were eating off paper plates with teaspoons! What a great success!
So we are looking for a new home for our events and wonder if you know of a Bath venue that can host us? Or maybe you have access to a space you can offer? This might be an existing public venue, or better still a space that isn’t currently used for out-of-hours events so would be more likely to be available for our full programme. Perhaps a meeting room (etc) in an office or public building that isn’t presently used for events. We’d like to make our new home in one place and establish the Positive Living Bath vibe there.
We currently have a regular programme of Yoga on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, and Bellyfit on Saturday mornings. Also fortnightly Friday night parties for Cafe Grace raw food cafe and entertainment, plus a raw food shared meal once a month on Sunday evening …. And there are more people approaching us to host their workshops and regular classes.
Our wish list includes:
- a venue in central Bath
- space for 50 – 60
- somewhere available for all evenings and weekends
- parking nearby
- cheap or free room hire
- access to a kitchen with crockery/cutlery
- warm (for yoga)
Please have a think and let us know if you can offer a space or suggest somewhere you think would be suitable. All ideas gratefully received
We look forward to hearing your suggestions.
Alison, Ian, Jonathan & Monika
